Part of curriculum: Part 3 Energy Modeller

Energy-Saving Upgrades
Reporting and Communication

A one-day workshop covering complementary analyses and project communications. Expanding on knowledge of code requirements, energy modelling software, building systems and energy upgrades, this module explores integrated design, detailed financial analysis, and preparation of project deliverables. Learners will practice applying integrated design principles, modelling capital and operational costs, and developing industry-standard reports and presentations.

Learning Outcomes

  • Synthesize diverse project performance goals and stakeholder agendas within an Integrated Design Process (IDP) matrix to establish collaborative energy and environmental design targets.
  • Analyze raw energy model outputs to extract energy use intensity (EUI), greenhouse gas intensity (GHGI), and peak demand metrics.
  • Calculate annual building operating costs by interpreting and applying complex utility tariff schedules to energy models
  • Evaluate the long-term financial viability of energy efficiency upgrades using Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) indicators versus Simple Payback methods.
  • Formulate an incremental cost analysis framework that isolates the true cost delta of high-performance measure bundles compared to code-minimum baseline budgets.
  • Translate technical simulation metrics into accessible, risk-mitigated performance narratives tailored specifically to clients, builders, and building inspectors, using visual reporting templates (reports and/or presentations)
